Synopsis {from Penguin’s website}:

Hired to find a boy gene missing in Doraville, North Carolina, Harper Connelly and her brother Tolliver head there, only to discover that the boy was the only one left of several who had disappeared over the previous five years. All of them teenagers. All unlikely runaways.

All calling for Harper.

Harper soon finds them—eight victims, buried in the half-frozen ground, all come to an unspeakable end. Afterward, what she most wants to do is collect her fee and get out of town ahead of the media storm that’s soon to descend. But when she’s attacked and prevented from leaving, she reluctantly becomes a part of the investigation as she learns more than she cares to about the dark mysteries and long-hidden secrets of Doraville—knowledge that makes her the next person likely to rest in an ice-cold grave.

My Thoughts:

This one just might be my favorite in the Harper Connely series!  From looking at my reading updates, it seems it took me a whopping ONE DAY to read this one!

I have to say, I’m not a fan of the “relationship" change between Harper and her ex-step-brother Tolliver.  As someone who has quite a few EX-STEPS, I can honestly say ex or not it doesn’t matter, I still see them as a sibling.  I can’t imagine thinking of them in any other way.  So that is a little off putting and distracting to the story.  Or it was to me, at least.

Forgetting about that, the story in this book was GREAT!  A serial killer, many missing youngsters found dead, thinking it’s figured out and being OH SO WRONG!  I really loved this one, and couldn’t put it down until I knew who did it!
