Wishlisting this Wednesday – April 04 2012

Happy Wednesday!  Hope you’re having a great week! I’ve spent the last couple of days cleaning down in my studio trying to get my office side a little less claustrophobic and a little more usable. Still not done, but at least my work computer isn’t buried under a bunch of stuff now!

Anyway, I thought I would pop on and show you a few books that are currently sitting in my Amazon WISHLIST  I keep saying “Book buying ban” and then I find myself adding and more and more books.  It’s a vicious cycle, I tell ya.  =D

Here’s a few books that have found their way into my wishes over the last few weeks.

Sin by Shaun Allan

Release Date: 2011-10-12

Dead. Say it enough times and it becomes just a word. Dead. Dead. Dead.

What would you do? Could you kill a killer? Does the death of one appease the deaths of a hundred? What about that hundred against a thousand? What if you had no choice?

Meet Sin. No, not that sort of sin, but Sin, crazy as a loon (you ask Sister Moon), and proud of it. Sin locks himself away in a mental home and, every so often, gets violent. That’s only so they’ll give him those nice drugs, though. The ones that help him forget. It’s a pity they don’t work. Sin, you see, has a serious problem. Well, it’s not so much his problem, as ours – yours, mine and everyone else’s. People die around him. He doesn’t like it and he can’t help it. But someone else knows, and he has to stop them… and himself… Flip and catch…

Alyss had trusted Lewis Carroll to tell the truth so that someone, somewhere would find her and bring her home. But Carroll had gotten it all wrong. He even misspelled her name! If not for royal bodyguard Hatter Madigan’s nonstop search to locate the lost princess, Alyss may have become just another society woman sipping tea in a too-tight corset instead of returning to Wonderland to fight Redd for her rightful place as the Queen of Hearts.

Advent: A Novel by James Treadwell

Release Date: 2012-07-03

First in an astonishingly imaginative fantasy trilogy, Advent describes how magic was lost to the world, and how a fifteen-year-old English boy discovers that its return is his inheritance.

1537. A man hurries through city streets in a gathering snowstorm, clutching a box in one hand. He is Johann Faust, the greatest magician of his age. The box he carries contains a mirror safeguarding a portion of his soul and a small ring containing all the magic in the world. Together, they comprise something unimaginably terrible.

London, the present day. Fifteen-year-old Gavin Stokes is boarding a train to the countryside to live with his aunt. His school and his parents can’t cope with him and the things he sees, things they tell him don’t really exist.

At Pendurra, Gavin finds people who are like him, who see things too. They all tell him the same thing: magic exists, and it’s leaking back into our world—and bringing something terrible with it.

Advent is an epic novel with heart-stopping moments, notable as much for its atmosphere as for its pace and sense of place. With numerous themes deftly woven throughout the compelling narrative, this novel is a spellbinding return to old-fashion storytelling and impossible to put down.
