Synopsis(from mortalinstruments.com ):

Clary Fray just wishes that her life would go back to normal. But what’s normal when you’re a demon-slaying Shadowhunter, your mother is in a magically induced coma, and you can suddenly see Downworlders like werewolves, vampires, and faeries? If Clary left the world of the Shadowhunters behind, it would mean more time with her best friend, Simon, who’s becoming more than a friend. But the Shadowhunting world isn’t ready to let her go — especially her handsome, infuriating, newfound brother, Jace. And Clary’s only chance to help her mother is to track down rogue Shadowhunter Valentine, who is probably insane, certainly evil — and also her father.

To complicate matters, someone in New York City is murdering Downworlder children. Is Valentine behind the killings — and if he is, what is he trying to do? When the second of the Mortal Instruments, the Soul-Sword, is stolen, the terrifying Inquisitor arrives to investigate and zooms right in on Jace. How can Clary stop Valentine if Jace is willing to betray everything he believes in to help their father?

In this breathtaking sequel to City of Bones, Cassandra Clare lures her readers back into the dark grip of New York City’s Downworld, where love is never safe and power becomes the deadliest temptation.

My Thoughts:

Once again, LOVED IT! Atleast according to my reading updates, I did. I read this a couple of weeks ago, actually, I read books 1-3. Now, I am seriously fiending for book 4, City of Fallen Angels, and the prequel Clockwork Angel. I honestly can’t wait to get my hands on the rest of the books that go with this series.

So what can I say about book two City of Ashes that wont give away the entire book, or spoil book one City of Bones?

City of Ashes was kind of crazy, intense, emotional, and frustrating! I don’t think you should read this book, unless you have book three CITY OF GLASS on hand to pick up IMMEDIATELY once you finish! This series is crazy addictive, and you won’t be satisfied if you don’t know how it turns out.

To summarize without spoiling, I will say…

  • Luke is still hawt.
  • Mom is still asleep.
  • Evil douche bag is still trying to take over the world.
  • Faeries freak me out a little.
  • I fell completely and unquestionably in love with Simon.
  • I cried.
  • Luke is still hawt. =D
  • Alec + Magnus makes me happy.
  • Jace makes me crazy, sometimes I just want to punch him in the face.
  • the book ended & I screamed (OUT LOUD) “WTF!” and started book three RIGHT THEN.

In other words, again I say – READ IT! =D
