Synopsis:
Betrayed by her longtime vampire love, Louisiana cocktail waitress Sookie Stackhouse must now not only deal with a possible new man in her life-the oh-so-handsome shapeshifter Quinn-but also contend with a long-planned vampire summit. With her power base weakened by hurricane damage to New Orleans, the local vampire queen is vulnerable to those hungry for a takeover. Soon, Sookie must decide what side she’ll stand with. And her choice may mean the difference between survival and all-out catastrophe.
My Thoughts:
About Sookie Saturday: I read the Southern Vampire Mysteries last year, flipping through the pages while listening to the audio books. I pulled a butt-numb-a-thon and did all of the books in like 9 days! Go me! Since it had been a while since I read these books, I am flipping back through them to try to refresh myself and exactly what goes down in each book. So much happens in each book, please forgive any plot mix ups on my part. My plan is to do a SOOKIE Review every Saturday, so for the next 10 (hopefully 11 if I grab the newest one!) weeks – we’ll be celebrating SOOKIE SATURDAY! Also, please be warned-> Sookie Saturday posts may or may not contain SPOILERS!
I had to flip back through this one, because its been over a year since reading this series and I couldn’t remember anything about this one. I don’t remember being disappointed while reading it, but I don’t remember loving it either.
Big events in this one were: Sookie finally got it on with Quinn. Jason and Crystal got married (and re-pregnant). Oh, we got to learn about Pam and how she was made. Man I love her. She is my favorite character, by far. And then there is the summit.
Pretty much this entire book is about a big vampire summit. One of my favorite parts of this one is that we get to see Barry the Bellboy again! I must be a weirdo because I really wish Sookie would get over all this vamp-whoring and hook up with Barry. =D
So at this big summit, Queen Sophie Ann is on trial for “planning” and killing her husband King Peter Threadgill. The Queen is having Sookie come along to use her telepathy to see if anyone at the summit is in on trying to have her killed, etc. The summit is this huge ordeal with many vampires, vampire royalty, and “other” worldly leaders in attendance.
While at the summit, Sookie learns some things about her weretiger/boyfriend Quinn. It’s a pretty sad story, but I still think he is skeevy. bluh.
And then, as if the trial business wasn’t crazy enough, Sookie and Barry find a bomb. In a pop can. Yeah, I know. LOL Lots of things happen, and in the end Sookie saves the day. Of course.
Warning to parents: this is an adult novel. It contains: blood, gore, and sexual content
