Synopsis (from Amazon):
The new Sookie Stackhouse novel from the New York Times bestselling author of Dead as a Doornail. Spiked with a "frothy fusion of romance, mystery, and fantasy" (Publishers Weekly), this "deliciously fiendish…increasingly riotous series" (Dallas Morning News) sends the supernaturally gifted cocktail waitress to New Orleans, where she has to deal with the legacy of one of her own family and a host of potentially dangerous characters.
My Thoughts:
About Sookie Saturday: I read the Southern Vampire Mysteries last year, flipping through the pages while listening to the audio books. I pulled a butt-numb-a-thon and did all of the books in like 9 days! Go me! Since it had been a while since I read these books, I am flipping back through them to try to refresh myself and exactly what goes down in each book. So much happens in each book, please forgive any plot mix ups on my part. My plan is to do a SOOKIE Review every Saturday, so for the next 10 (hopefully 11 if I grab the newest one!) weeks – we’ll be celebrating SOOKIE SATURDAY! Also, please be warned-> Sookie Saturday posts may or may not contain SPOILERS!
I love Claude, I swear I do. LOL! The opening of this one cracked me up. I can’t imagine Sookie on a photoshoot, I just can’t. LOL
In this book, I was not a fan of the relationship between Sookie and Quinn. Quinn to me comes off as skeevey and I just don’t like him at all. I did enjoy learning about Hadley and Sophie Anne. I loved meeting Amelia, and though it took a while, she really grew on me!
The scene in the book where Sookie is in the hospital and Eric makes Bill fess up *can’t say more then that without ruining it for you* broke my heart. In my opinion that one chapter was worth the price of the book. Such amazing writing in that chapter. My heart hurt for Sookie, it really did.
This installment in the series was very STOP n GO for me. Some bits I couldn’t put down, and some bits seemed like they just drug on and on…
In the end, I was happy with this one. The emotion was there, the action was there and that made me happy (skeeve and all).
Warning to parents: this is an adult novel. It contains: blood, gore, and sexual content
Join me next Saturday for All Together Dead (Southern Vampire Mysteries, Book 7)
