My Thoughts:
About Sookie Saturday: I read the Southern Vampire Mysteries
last year, flipping through the pages while listening to the audio books. I pulled a butt-numb-a-thon and did all of the books in like 9 days! Go me! Since it had been a while since I read these books, I am flipping back through them to try to refresh myself and exactly what goes down in each book. So much happens in each book, please forgive any plot mix ups on my part. My plan is to do a SOOKIE Review every Saturday, so for the next 10 (hopefully 11 if I grab the newest one!) weeks – we’ll be celebrating SOOKIE SATURDAY! Also, please be warned-> Sookie Saturday posts may or may not contain SPOILERS!
This book was a hot mess. So much goes on in this one, it was almost hard to keep straight. It was not a bad or boring read though, AND there are some new characters introduced which give fans of the series hope of a new storyline to follow!
To sum up quickly what happens in this one: 2 wolf packs war over territory and Alcide becomes head wolfy. Quinn gets kidnapped and found, we learn about his mom, and in the end Sookie dumps him. (Which made me happy, I thought he was skeevey.) We find out Sookie is a fairy, and her Great-Grandfather is still alive. Crystal cheats on poor Jason which makes for some great drama. Sookie saves Eric, Sam, and King Filipe and saves the day (of course.) And we get to meet dead cousin Hadley’s adorable son who is also a telepath like Sookie.
*phew*
See lots happens.
I am glad the Quinn storyline is wrapping up and I love love LOVE the introduction of Hadley’s son. He is so sweet and I could do entire books of him, learning to use/control his powers. YAY!
Even though this book is by far the most insane jumbled mess of the series, I say READ IT. But don’t read it first. If you are a new reader of the series, make sure you read the others first or you will just be lost and confused on the who’s its and what’s its.
Warning to parents: this is an adult novel. It contains: blood, gore, and sexual content

Hey, thanks for the shout out! Wow the books and the TV show are really at different places. Some of the things here have already happened in the show and some things haven’t even been mentioned.
@Lindsay, TheBookVlogger,
The show kind of followed the books line for a while but now its more – they take the really BIG points and use those as a base idea… but not really. And stuffs not in the right order. LOL
The characters are way different too. Lafayette got killed off in … I think it was book ONE. Arlene – guh, in the books I just HATE her, such a bitch. Tara is WAY different in the books too.
I really like that they are way different. It lets people enjoy both instead of one OR the other, if you know what I mean.
@BunnyCates, I do know what you mean and I agree. I know that if I wanted to read the books, I wouldn’t have to worry about knowing exactly what’s going to happen next because they are so different. At first I was glad that they kept Layfayette because I liked him so much, but now I couldn’t really care. They’ve changed him so much that he’s no longer cool.
@Lindsay, TheBookVlogger,
Oh me too, about Lafayette! I loved him the first few seasons. Last season and this one I’m just like *shrugs*.
I love the Jason/Jessica story line. I don’t remember that in the books. Actually, Hoyt is barely in the books too, that I remember. Certainly not as big a role as he has on the show. Its hard to remember really what all happened in the books, I read them last year and don’t own them. So I just kind of flip through them at the library and make notes to mention in my reviews. haha!!!
There was a “pirate/three muskateer” skeevy vampire in the books too. Can’t think of his name right off – but I hope they work him into the show. And Amelia – who has a huge part in some of the later books – not on the show? booooooooo…
Yeah, there’s no Amelia, but a “pirate/three musketeer”? Um, Hell yay! Is he the one that hooks up with Sookie? I’d be up for that. That sounds like fun! I can only imagine Eric’s reaction to that XD. I was really excited about Jason and Jessica too. It hasn’t turned out the way I wanted and that has kinda had it sizzle a bit for me, but I’m still VERY eager to watch the next three episodes. It feels like this season has just flown by.
@Lindsay, TheBookVlogger,
His name was Charles Twining. He was soooo douchey but I really liked him. Like that “ashamed to admit it” liked. LOL… Let me think how his storyline was… Eric sent him to Merlotts to protect Sookie, and of course he needed somewhere to stay. *ahem*. I can’t remember if they “hooked up” or not – but it wasn’t for his lack of trying. =D Crap, now Im gonna have to reread the book he’s in. haha. I think it was 4 or 5.
@BunnyCates, No one can replace Eric for me, but he sounds like a good detour ;P
@Lindsay, TheBookVlogger,
I wish the Claude/Claudine line had been followed on the show like in the books. I love them in the books. And they’ve already killed off Claudine so I don’t know how they are going to do Sookies fairyline. The twins had a huge role in the book with the fairy war and all that. Its going to be strange without Claudine and Claude’s help.
@Lindsay, TheBookVlogger,
Oh and I totally agree about Eric. That guy that plays him is PERFECT casting. He is sooo easy on the eyes. I wish they would have included the pink hotpants though. 😛
@BunnyCates, I’m not really sure who Claude is, but I’m sure they’ll bring the fairies back into it. I expect that to be the plot for next season. I never expected that to be the end of it. A fairy war should be fun. Especially with those pretty energy balls of theirs 😉
@Lindsay, TheBookVlogger,
The one Eric ate, Claudine (Sookie’s fairy GodMother)… in the books she has a twin brother – Claude. Claude even lives with Sookie for a while after they kill off Claudine. So maybe they just killed her off early and will bring him in later. Though, I wish they would have let us get to “know” her other wise we wont give a poo about Claude. He was a stripper and a runway model. Very umm… flamboyant. hahaha.
