2012 Goals n Such!
Another year has come and gone! What do you think about that?! I certainly feel a year older today! lol!!!
Last year I set quite a few “wishful thinking” goals for myself, and gave up on most of them before February ever even hit. Not this year. THIS YEAR, I will do this! I resolve to have some resolve. Dammit.
whoot! =D
Seriously, I’m getting older and who knows how many more chances I’ll have to make some resolutions and either accomplish or fail at them? So this year, I’m going to go at this with some gusto (and try to keep my goals in the ABSOLUTELY ATTAINABLE category)! I’m dividing them up into three main categories to keep it all from being just entirely too overwhelming!
Personal Goals for 2012
- Focus on the future. By this I mean, I feel like I’m just kind of floating in limbo. I don’t have any career plans or even future plans further along than what can I do TODAY. That doesn’t work for me. I kind of feel like a failure as an adult. I could just sit around drinking beer and eating cheetos all day. No one would notice. It wouldn’t change anything. I need to figure out what the hell my “purpose” is and then work on getting there. I’m almost 40 dammit! Time is running out!
- Lose 30 more pounds. Hey don’t laugh. I lost 30 in 2011 and I wasn’t even really trying, I just started eating at more reasonable times. And I cut out coffee. If I can drop 30 just doing that – imagine what I could do if I actually TRIED. I don’t want to say I’m going to diet in 2012, not only because that just scream for failure – but mainly just because I’m not. I am going to try to be more active and eat a better variety. (Yes Dad, I will try to eat more meat. Even though I hate it, and it makes me puke. haha.)
- More Financially Stabile. There are several parts to this goal. A few of them will work themselves out as we pay off a few loans/credit cards/truck this year. Replacing one of those bills as a deposit into savings. Another step to this is going to be getting my “Wal-Mart spending” under control! My goodness, we spend about $300 a WEEK in that joint. NO KIDDING! I have to get that down. We are a family of 4 with 2 dogs. I know our grocery bill will be high, but seriously! $1200/month to Wal-mart? That’s insane. I need to stop shopping at ONE STORE for the convenience and start shopping several stores for the sales and savings.
- More ME time. I know this is selfish, but shit. Most days I don’t even get dressed, and if I do… it’s out of one set of pj’s and into a clean set. I want a little me time. Whether its just a walk in the park, or maybe a membership to CURVES or something. Time for ME – away from kids and dogs and husbands and TO DO’s. I would love to find me time AT HOME, since I hate to go anywhere and I hate people – but truth is – it’s never JUST ME at home. *sigh* I need an apartment. LOL
- Make a difference to someone. Ashamed to say I didn’t do much for charity in 2011. With DSO closed, my personal income dropped by 2/3rds. I just didn’t have any extra cash to give in 2011, and that’s the honest truth. The little bit I did give – I regretted usually a week later when we were broke as crap with $2 in the bank. KWIM? I want to find something I can do this year to make me feel better about just being me. I’m lucky to have the life I have, and I’m thankful for it. Sometimes I even feel guilty about how impulsive and splurgy we’ve become. I would really like to show my gratitude by helping someone who’s life isn’t as wonderful as mine. I’m just not sure how to go about that when there is no money involved.
Reading Goals for 2012
- My main goal for 2012 is 52 books, again. One a week should be doable. That was my goal for 2011, and I missed it by ONE BOOK! bah!!!!!!! I will do it this year.
- Clash of the Classics! I’m going to try to read at least 6 CLASSICS this year. That’s 1 every other month. If I can’t read a book in eight weeks – we have issues, kwim? I don’t think I have read a classic since high school, and I hated it then. I always hated “required” reading back then though.
- Sundays with Stevie. For the last few years I’ve been working on gradually getting all my Stephen King books in hardback. I only have a handful left to go, the older ones that are harder to find in good condition. This year I want to finish that. I also plan to re-read my Stephen Kings, at least 2 a month. I haven’t read most of them since high school, and think it would be fun to revisit them. I also want to have a huge give away for my duplicate copies and the paperbacks I no longer need.
- VARIETY. I hope to read a bit of variety in 2012. Seems like I went from Horror – ONLY to YA – ONLY. That stinks. This year I hope to challenge myself a little by venturing into genres I wouldn’t normally read. I know romance is still going to be a NO GO but there are tons of other genres out there!
Website/Working Goals for 2012
- Schedule schedule schedule. This year I will make a schedule AND stick to it. Dammit.
- Experiment and Expand. This year I will not be afraid to try new things. I have all these ideas and don’t put them into action for fear of failure or fear of what my normal readers will think. What the hell?! How will my site ever GROW if I am not willing to grow both with technology AND with content!
- Satisfaction. This year I will focus on making this site what *I* want it to be, and not so much what I think people WANT. If people like it, that will be great but the main thing is if *I* like it. If people don’t like what I do here – then f*** em. This is MY site. Not sure when I stopped feeling that way about this site. I did though, and for the last year I’ve not been real happy with it. That makes it hard to post. Back to being all about ME! =D
- Grammar. f*** sh** h***. Need I say more?
Mostly, I just want to be happy in 2012. Or at least – enjoy trying to get there. =D
