Paper Roses – a quick how to

Im so excited!

My friend Shannon loaned me her Wishblade a few months ago.  I’ve been so scared I’d tear it up, that I’ve not really messed with it since she sent it.  But yesterday, I bit the bullet and finally worked it out!  After many failed attempts I finally got yesterdays card done.

So today, after a little googling and tinkering I figured out quite a few little tweaks and tips on using the Wishblade!   I stumbled across a tutorial on how to make your own flowers a month or two ago (here)  and it just looked like entirely too much work.  But now with the wishblade…  well…  what do you think?

They were super easy to do.  Messy, but easy!!!

Here’s how:

Cut about 16-20 assorted sized hearts out of white cardstock.  I used the Wishblade with Silhouettes Studio software.  It was super easy!  I just used the software and drew my hearts, and the machine cut them out for me!

as you can see below, I didn’t get clean cuts with the wishblade.  Not sure if its me, the paper Im using, or if I need to replace the blade?  This is just day 2 of using though, so I won’t complain.  Im sure its user error.  LOL!!!

After all the hearts are out, ink em up.

I used Worn Lipstick from Distress and then edged them with Colorbox Chalk ink.  I also ended up spritzing them with some homemade GlimmerMist. LOL!!!  Its water, perfect pearls, and food coloring!

Once inked, I hole punched and then harpooned onto a brad, smallest sizes first.

Once I had it all assembled, I spritzd the tar out of it with my Perfect Pearls concoction.

While still wet, I scrunched up all the layers.  Doing it while its oversaturated and still wet will let the ink run and give you like, umm.. like the “veins” of color streaks, so dont be stingy on the spray!!!!!!!!!

After I scrunched up all the layers, I hit it for a sec with the heat tool to dry it up quick, then spritzed it AGAIN and used my fingers to roll and turn the petals like I wanted.

I did the same thing technique on the leaves.  Dont they look fantastic!!  I used the colorbox chalk ink and some homemade spray of Perfect Pearls…

Heres a closeup (below) of the glistening petals.  I LOVE PERFECT PEARLS!!!
