PIP: ALTERED BIRTHDAY BOOK – Pockets and Calendar

Here’s another installment of this months PiP project!

Last week I did the covers, cut some dividers, and began planning out the logistics of the pages and the calendar.

I ended up adding a little inking to the edges of the covers.  My thinking is this thing is going to get USED so it’s going to get a little dirty.  Inking it up now, will help “hide” any dirt or smudges that get on it in the future…

I went ahead and inked the pockets, too.

I adhered the pockets to the inside of the covers, and I have to say, I LOVE IT!  They are totally cute, and its a great size too!  Perfect size for holding notes, nicknacks, or blank standard sized birthday cards!

For the pages, I made a NOTE page, and ANNIVERSARIES page, and then each month has a calendar, AND a birthday list page, to help Gran organize what needs mailed, and there is a column that she can check mark when she mails the cards.

The pages, I trimmed, and folded into a POCKET.  So she can slip things inside for safe keeping!

Here (below) is what it would look like with the book laying open.  Calendar and list, side by side.  I’m going to stamp the dates into the calendar with some rubber stamps, and ink up the edges. 🙂

As you can see (below) the pockets are perfect size for holding standard sized cards.  Was thinking Gran could plan out what she wants to send to who, and then stick them in the pockets so she wont even have to look for them.  After the month and they are mailed, she can stuff the pockets with THANK YOU notes, receipts, photos, or knicknacks, etc…

Here’s how thick the book is going to be at this point.  Still have the “address” pages to add and maybe some misc pockets…
