May Card Sketch Challenge – Thank You Card

Hope you are all fairing this crazy weather ok!  I spent most of the night down in the studio expecting to have to make a mad dash into the safe room with the kids!

Yesterday wasn’t a total loss though, I made a card while I waited for the storm to pass. 😀

I hosted a card sketch challenge at DSO again this month, and my card is based on that sketch.

I loved how it turned out!

For hybrid cards (this uses KimB’s Timeless Elegance kit), I always assemble it to scale in Paint Shop Pro, and then separate and print the layers.  That way I can cut it apart and reassemble and it will have that real dimension and texture just like if I’d bought the paper supplies in a craft store!

For some glitz n glam I used both DIAMOND and BLACK DIAMOND Stickles on the label, and then Diamond Stickles on the red patterned paper.  I also added a glitter brad from American Crafts. It is attached using dimensional  adhesive.

I used 1/8” ribbon to hide the seem between the two patterned papers at the bottom, and scallop punched the dot patterned paper.

For the butterfly, I cut him out and went over his design with Clear Stardust Sakura, Black Stardust Sakura, and Red Stardust Sakura Jelly Roll Pens.  For his body: I used RED hemp twine from Stampin’ Up and a few beads.  He is attached using some dimensionals so he is not flat against the card.

I emailed Kim this morning and asked her if I could give you a printable of my card and she said YES!  So, if you would like to make this card yourself – you can download the printable:
